Organizational Transformation

Organizations are comprised of people working together for (ideally) the same set of values and interests. The process of an organization changing is as complex are as are the people within it.

Some steps in organizational transformation include:

  • Identifying the core values of the organization through reflective dialogue
  • Ensuring that there is clarity and understanding about what our stated core values mean
  • Demonstrating commitment to the stated values
  • Providing ongoing processes for ongoing dialogue about core values, and also providing ways to orient and invite new people to join and advance the values of the organization
  • Once the core values are in place, opening up honest reflection about how well the organization abides by its core values in actual practice (being self-critical, self-reflective)
  • Pacing change in ways that provide time for people to feel vested in change and to be able to predict what’s happening, to be able to keep up with the pace of change
  • Setting up ways to hold the organization to account, and also those within in in ways that are supportive and based on learning as an organization
  • Providing ways to people to support the core values through a diversity of approaches
  • Building strong community that is based on trust, respect, and shared responsibility for all within the organization
